Today we decided to do some last minute shopping and spend the rest of our monies on dusty vintage clothes. The best place to go for amazingly cheap vintage is all around Le Maurais, get off at Hotel D'Ville. Head towards the Pompidou and all around the back roads theres lots and lots of vintage shops waiting to be discovered. Prices for dresses, jumpers and shirts are around 10 euros, 5 euros for accessories any more and you're being conned! Our favourite store was called Free 'p' Star just behind Hotel'D'Ville however they have 3 stores dotted all around the area.
Valentin Yudashkin
After we headed to our only and last show of the day, Valentin Yudashkin. The Russian designer showed his collection in the lavish Hotel Westin, set in one of their gorgeous rooms with huge chandeliers and decadent archways. Taking to his Russian roots, he had a clear love for jewels and all things luxurious which you could tell from the jewelled printed invitation.
After the various enhanced and botoxed faces were seated front row the show beings with crisp white shirts tucked into layered white skirts, worn with tiny, almost sporty white tailored jackets and a racer back vest. The next skirts feature a bejewelled print in bold orange and purples, these become jackets in the same print with divine bejewelled lapels, dripping semi-precious stones. Adding an edge of city slicker one of the jackets was worn with a pair of tan city shorts and a pale blue shirt keeping the look classy, sophisticated and feminine.
The evening wear was to die for! Starting with layered floor skimmng etherial dresses, the skirts fell at the natural waistline with underbust embellishment, becoming all out sheer floaty dresses sprinkled in the jewelled embellishment this collection featured so much of. Hem lines varied with multi length maxis, full flowing maxis and mini dresses as well. Split side maxis in white, nude, smokey blue and other pastels with flashes of silver featured gathered detailing as swathes of gathered fabric gave the dresses an asymmetric quality, wrapped tight around waists and exposing classy sheer cut outs.
Each look was utterly chic, you could imagine all the celebrities wearing them down the red carpet, there was the perfect amount of sparkle colour and length to make each look elegant and sophisticated. The style of the collection reminded me of the elegance of Colette Dinigan and the feminity of Monique Lhullier.
I managed to photograph the fabric in it's beauty, gliding gracefully across the floor. The deep 'V' back reveals enough of the skin to be desired and maintain elegance.
The over the top embellishment was gorgeous, as if inspired by the 1920's you could imagine a hollywood goddess wearing it.
Overall an absolute stunning show which caught my eye. The intricate embelishment, floaty fairy like dresses and city chic short suits. Perfect for next summer.
