NYFW - Alexander Wang

I obviously wasn't at NYFW but fingers crossed there's a chance I can go next year (once I turn 21 so I can benefit from all the parties), so I perved all over style.com for the latest shows. Every season I look for Alexander Wang first, I love his designs. He always manages to bring a new edge and take on minimalist chic, keeping the palette cool and understated. New twists and innovations constantly form but his designs are kept on a wearable level. That's what I love about Wang, he doesn't make anything to over the top but each piece always makes a statement.

Lots of leather and boxy looks were held at his show. Shirt dresses seem to be popular for next season and Wang got on board  by mixing materials. Layering of the shirt was seen in a very clean linear way, creating angles which perfectly compliment the slim physique. Admittedly not going to look great on the curvaceous.

The colour scheme consisted mainly of black and white but hints of taupe and shades of grey dropped into jumpers and jackets. Leather definitely made a statement, most pieces consisted of this in various shades.

"I want to pull garments apart" and that's exactly what he did using invisible fish line embroidery to hold pieces together, this created a floating effect to the garments. It worked like magic, incredible. There's a sporty futuristic yet elegant feel to this collection. It embodies the modern day cool girl, he definitely hasn't failed me.
