338. Fashion Apprentice.

My time as an apprentice is nearly up, with only two weeks left to go I'm taking full advantage of my Thursday nights before I become a full timer. I know many of you guys like me want a job in fashion. Well here are my top tips to making a good impression and securing a job.

1. Be enthusiastic. - Ok so this may be a generic one that everyone goes on about, but showing that you're interested in the job shows you want to be there and that you are taking your position seriously no matter how big or small the job is.

2. Be friendly and confident. - Now I understand it's always a little intimidating meeting a new team of people but you need to make the effort to get to know your colleagues and team members, it just makes life so much easier. Don't be scared to approach people, and ask their name! Not gonna bite ya.

3. Perfection. - As I said you should be enthusiastic about any job big or small but you must also finish it to perfection. Finishing jobs so they are absolutely perfect is absolute key, don't let anyone find a glitch. However don't be afraid to ask them to check that what you're doing is right, it's ok if you make a mistake just correct it!

4. Stay focused. - Don't let anything distract you whilst doing a job, I'm easily distracted but I've learnt to focus and multi-task a little. You may get asked to do three jobs at once so prioritise and focus on getting the job done.

5. Persistence. - Don't ever give up, you will get there eventually. I've mopped floors, taken out trash but I've also sat front row at fashion shows. Sticking at a job until the end shows your dedicated and not just a flake.

So I've become a little lazy in this festive period and the easiest thing for me to do was to just have my picture taken after a heavy night on the vodka. This jumper is one of my favourite jumpers, got it in a vintage store whilst in Sweden a couple of years ago. It's so vulgar that it's amazing. Also this back pack was an early Christmas present from the best friend, so a shout out to her, she knows who she is.

This is one of my favourite dresses I own, all over pleated it reminds me of Issey Miyake Pleats Please. In electrifying hues of blue merging into black, it's pretty without being overtly girly. And anyone who knows me knows I hate looking girly.

I hate it when people say pastels are in, they are always the trend in summer! So whats new to the table is metallics. Normally it's seen as a winter party trend but this year it's going to be seen in the summer to give a fresh approach to your wardrobe. Wear it during the day or night the trend is exciting and will take you to another dimension. Be on point this season - Splurge, Spend or Save

Pointed heels are a must have this summer. Last season it's all been about the chunky block heel but now its about elegance. The pointed shoe gives your feet that slimming shape and show off those dainty ankles, although they might not be the most comfortable style of shoes, they are the most sophisticated. With a stiletto heel make sure you practice walking and break in the shoes before tottering around the fashion weeks which are soon to commence.

Thrifty Tip: Take a look in charity shops, those old grannys out there wore fabulous pointed shoes and buying them would be a bargain and also helping those less fortunate. Everybody's happy!

So it's been a while since I've done a designer Vs highstreet due to partly being a workaholic and having no time, but also with the new year there is a lack of new collections. But here I have finally redeemed myself.
Recently posting about the pyjama trend, I found these wonderful sets. Peter Jensen does a classic ditsy silk check set in a bold blue for a few bob but Whistles creates a beautiful oriental floral set with a clean cut. I really think both will be a hit, wear with a pair of pointed stilettos to give extra class.

With slippers being in, whether studded, suede or your classic moccasins, pyjamas are now all the new trend. Being comfy in you're clothes is at a all time high and looking fabulous at the same time. I absolutely love it, however I need to find the right set before venturing out.

There is definitely a 1930's effortless glamour to this look although this trend is very risky with exposure to VPL and baggyness making it either unflattering or if you're lucky enough, it will swing stylishly off your hips, will you be taking a chance?  Make it silky or cotton, polka dot or check just make sure you have the right underwear. If you're not ready to take the plunge go for a silk shirt with some tailored trousers.
