300. Trends.

Trousers are even shorter than you're average ankle swinger for next season. They are cut to the mid-calf, potentially unflattering, they actually fall on the smallest part of your leg creating a slimming leg illusion. Hence why I rocked them at LFW if you saw my poser post a couple weeks back. Everyone has been doing them, and they look super cool fresh and comfortable. If you're tall wear the look with even baggier clothing but if you're smaller like me juxtapose the look with a snug fitting top. This is what I'll definitely be rocking for next season now the sun has gone away.

291. NYFW SS14

1. Alexander Wang.

Always keeping it cool, Alexander Wang hasn't failed us this season. His effortlessly cut silhouettes with wide sleeves, bellie button skimming crops and menswear texture has kept us wanting more and more of his collections each season. Wang has stuck to what he knows best, minimal chic with an androgynous edge but keeping it fresh with new ways of layering and new hem lengths. Asymmetric cuts dominated the collection, and throughout there was a school girl uniform theme. Branding appeared on gloves and on the waist in the form of "ALEXANDER WANG" in an blindingly unmissable way, something that a lot of street wear brands too have been doing. Finally jumping onto the band waggon, he establishes his place within both the street wear scene and high fashion.

2. Opening Ceremony

The first ever catwalk show for Opening Ceremony was certainly a show stopper with the likes of Rihanna, Justin Beiber and Baz Luhrman on front row, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim had a lot to live up to. With heir other ridiculously successful line Kenzo, everyone had high hopes for cool collection to emerge from their vision. They didn't fail to produce 90's grunge silhouettes with the over sized biker jackets in classic black and dirty lemons. With the use of utility shorts immersed in graphics prints. Androgynous lines were created around the shoulders which have been around a couple of seasons now and don't seem to be going anywhere in the mean time. A favourite was sleekly cut jumpsuit in a tangerine orange, with little pocket details it was easy simple and fun. The use of layering was key with shirts peeking through underneath jackets and coats. This is a place I plan to shop one day.

3. MM6 Maison Martin Margiela

Transparency was the inspiration for MM6 this season, and with projections of bubbles in the background and the invite being a bottle of bubbles. Each look was simple and understated yet cleverly designed to deceive the eye, illusion was the focus of this collection. The minimalist sports luxe look has taken over New York this season and every one has done their take on it. MM6 did especially well with their anoraks and outerwear, cropped cuts and loose fits were icy cool, and with a dash of candy pink and ice cold blues it was the perfect colour palette for something so minimally cool.

4. Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham wowed us again with an undoubtedly chic collection full of beautifully cut jackets, mid calf length trousers and fitted dresses. It was all about "shape" and the fit and form of the body, constructed exquisitely it was hard for me to choose just four looks for my edit. Hems were all of the mini skirt length and diagonally cut with pleated or ruffles layered underneath. Finished to absolute precision no looks were overly styled or under styled. They were all complete looks I want to wear. From the triangles bonded onto organza to the rounded off shoulder jackets each look was ridiculously chic, this is another winner and I can happily say I'm now a fully pledged Vicky B fan.

NYFW - Rodarte

I'm barely ever disappointed by Rodarte and this season I fell in love with them all over again. This S/S the collection was inspired by "Dungeons and Dragons" which translated through armour like embellishment and heavy metal belts. From patent leathers and chain mail, the designer duo made what seemed like a Gothic cauldron of a concept into the most beautiful ethereal and wearable concept ever.

Technique were shown off in every look, from a woven jumper match with a cubic print skirt, who would have thought those two would have worked so well? So many elements in this collection shouldn't have worked but it did. Sky blue with burnt orange silk, lime punch with patent leather, but it worked ad I loved it.

Silhouettes mixed between feminine and masculine, harsh lines versus fluidity. It was a real fantasy come true which appeals to every girl I can imagine, from provcative lace to androgynous leather. Oh and don't forget the shoes, forever flawless!

NYFW - Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler has recently become the new designer about town after launching the brand in 2002. They've come a long way and this collection proved why they're successful. More of the boxy silhouette was see but these time in a lot more harsh lines and masculine feel. However this was later contrasted with pops and splashes of neon yellow and aqua blue. 

There was a high level of detail gone into this collection from the prints, bias cut and studding but all done in a beautifully down beat way. Lots of exoctic python skin in patchwork tones in refreshing bursts of lime punch and marine. The prints were composed to perfection, the colours worked cohesively and the cut of the clothes were more masculine than feminine how ever all the components balanced the look out.

This was definitely a collection was the cool kids of New York, using tumblr as a reference as well as being inspired by Gerard Richter. The styling was perfect and sold it to me in a heartbeat.

NYFW - 3.1 Phillip Lim

I'm a big fan of Phillip Lim, and this collection definitely embodies his style. With the baggy tailored trousers and slouchy jackets in sobre whites and blues, each look was effortless and yet chic. There's a slightly more warm tone to this collection considering the minimal palette. He'ss another designer who designs for the cool "it" girl, and someone who isn't scared of trying less feminine silhouettes.

However this collection felt a lot more frivolous, with the floral embroidery and prints, the soft silky and sheer fabrics. It felt more girly and less clean cut than his last collections. I embraced it, the silk whites with inserts of prints make it perfect for Summer and easy to wear, the slit gives it that slight provocative feel yet the overall design is innocent.
A lot of mix and match went out, making each outfit very versatile and wearable as a collection. Mixing prints is going to be big next summer and it shows throughout the looks. His looks are toned down though so it isn't too over bearing.
