305. Burberry Brit.

Last week my fellow blogger Itsaldnthing invited me to join her at the Burberry Brit event to launch the new men's fragrance, Rhythm. Located at the very cool Village Underground in Shoreditch, they certainly were going for something a little more hip and subtle.

The venue was filled with beautiful trendy Londoner's, mostly dressed in all black with a classic leather biker jacket. You know the ones I mean. Those hotties. White Lies took to the stage, playing a couple new tracks from their album and an oldie "farewell to the fairground". They were pretty awesome I have to say even though it's not what I normally listen to. It was a fun evening and the men's fragrance smells rather sexy too. So watch out ladies, the new men of Burberry will be smelling rather seductive.

The whole event was being streamed live, as I was hitting the tube home I saw instagrams of the event on the TV advertisement as I took the escalator down. Thought that was pretty fucking cool.  Search #thisisbrit for more images of the event.

339. Drury club.

Another Friday night, another new club to endeavour. I've been a bit boring as of late but myself and a friend decided to hit up Drury Club to see what it was like.

With a much younger crowd compared to the usual members only club I wasn't quite sure what to expect...

Where: On Drury lane of course.
Nearest Tube: Holborn? Get a bus to aldwych so much easier.
Price: I'm pretty sure it's free for girls before 12 and maybe £20 for guys.
Dress code: Smart casual, deffos no trainers allowed and girls must where heels.

Drury club is definitely a younger crowd, then kind of club for the kids who have money. With a slight east end vibe with it's brick walls, neon signage and "quirky" mirrors, it was slightly more laid back and less pretentious than other members club, however they still had the over sized belevedere bottles and magnums everywhere. One of which an idiotic girl spilt on me, drunk through osmosis anyone?

Music was generally hip hop and trap, the play list was pretty small as we were only there for a couple of hours and Drunk on love, bugatti and pour it up were all played twice in that amount of time. I dread to think how many more times it would have been played on through out the night.

Saying that I did have a good time, there was actual dance floor space for once and I pretty much danced like I was a G. Everyone was dancing and there was a good vibe in there, although the one thing that was annoying was the over crowding, it's not a tiny club but I like to have good booty dropping space without having to knock anyone out.

Rating: 6/10

You'll have a good time if you're with your mates on a table getting fucked.

322. The box

The Box is one of the most exclusive and extravagant clubs I've ever been to, hidden down a street in Soho you wouldn't even know it was there if you walked past it. Well I certainly walked past it when I first visited.

A night where weird, crazy, bizarre and some may say disgusting things happen, yet a lot of fun. Brace yourselves for what you will read, it's a "theatre of varieties".
Where: Walkers Court (Just off Brewer Street)
Nearest tube: Piccadilly Circus
Entry: Free entry if on guest list or a table reservation is required.
Dress code: Dress to impress

The entrance just looks like two big wooden old fashioned doors, but behind these doors is a lavish Victorian decor club. Upon entering you're greeted by beautiful women, scantily clad in feathers and hot pants (I'm sure you can use your imagination) in a dimly lit room with a giant canon in the centre. With a fancy looking staircase covered in plush red carpet and highly decorated wallpaper, it feels as if you're in a rich Victorian brothel, high class yet naughty. Haha.

The beautiful women escort you to your table and it's a pleasant change that all the staff are very friendly and accommodating. It feels so exciting and wonderful, as if you're taken into another kind of era. There are two shows each night, starting from about 1am. Now the stories I've told back to my friends of what I've seen in this club have partially scarred my friends; if you're an uptight kind this place is not for you. You will see penises and vaginas that's for sure but some of the acts are really amazing, some serious talent is needed.

So one big rule is that there are no cameras to be used in the club and no phones to be used during the show. You'll find out why...I once saw a woman dressed up as Prince with two dancers, dance around to "Kiss" and Prince whipped off her trousers and was completely starkers. Yes bottom half was naked. Then " Purple rain" came on and she stood with her legs open, the dancers placed three champagne glasses in between her legs. She then weed into the glass with great precision. They then took a glass each drank a sip and spat it out into the audience. Now I found this hilarious, maybe I'm disgusting but I just thought it was utterly ridiculous. That is however one of the more ludicrous acts. But then maybe I've been so many times I've accepted it's ludicrousness

Now I wouldn't call this place a sex club and I wouldn't call it seedy simply because it's just mental. The acts are tongue and cheek, vulgar, absurd and amazing. I know there have been reviews where they say "anything goes" but honestly, I've been there many a time and haven't seen people dry humping, whereas I could say something else for the likes of Magaluf.

The music is pretty decent as usually in exclusive clubs it's god awful commercial house with a DJ pressing play with no concept of mixing. Whereas in The Box they have a proper DJ who admittedly plays pop music but mixes it with House, Hip Hop and all sorts, you're actually having a dance to good dancey music. Upstairs there is a VIP room, now I'm pretty obliterated by the time I venture up there, but it has more of a loungey feel with velvet sofas and low ceilings. I think I remember attempting the strip pole, swinging around turned upside down but then got stuck. Yup that was a great moment.

Anyways I definitely recommend that you got to this place at least once, you won't find anything quite like it. Let me know if you go, I'd like to know about your experience.

271. Farr festival

This summer I decided I wanted to go to a little boutique festival and after my friend mentioning Farr festival to me, this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Where: Herfordshire
Price: £80 (including booking fee)
How long: Two days and two nights of music

Setting off at 4:00pm from the south was only suppose to take an estimated hour and a half to get there, but travelling on the M25 isn't always smooth. With a coach fire occurring and melting the tarmac we got stuck in a traffic jam for about seven gruelling hours and went slightly mad. Arriving at midnight we were initially refused to be let it as box office closed at 10pm but there was a large group of us who charmed our way into the campsite.

Setting up a tent in the dark isn't the easiest of things I'll tell you now, but I managed it! The next day was a scorcher, and I was very happy that I packed a bikini top.
Music started at 1:00pm and was set to last til 6:00am the next day. Skipping through the corn fields into the main arena, there were only two tents to be seen. The main stage and the circus stage, and with a few hay bales dotted around it seemed empty.

As you ventured further up there were sign posts directing you into the woods where three more stages were set up amongst the trees. More sign posts with artists names on directed you to the stages. Very close together you'd think the music would mix but surprisingly it didn't.

So one thing I was annoyed about was how they boasted of brilliantly priced food. Well let me tell you now it was outrageous! No different from any other festival and the fact they only had 4/5 food stalls wasn't great. A small bowl of cereal from cereal killers (a great name I'll admit) was £3! Sorry but that's just not right. A bang average burger was £6.50 and if you wanted cheese that's another £1.

My food rant over, I'll carry on with how good the music was. It was in fact insanely good. During the day the vibe was chilled and people were dancing freely in the shade, enjoying the likes of Kitt Proudfoot and his tune I think about Nina Kraviz often, day time dancing is a winner. The night time came and everyone went a little mental. Ben Pearce was a bit disappointing but Maxxi Soundsystem made up for it. Oneman was brilliant on main stage blasting out garage classic Sia's little man as well a throwing in some French Fries. However my highlight has got to be Bicep, I think the whole festival was waiting on them all weekend and they were the perfect way to end the festival, starting at 4:00am on the Sunday morning, everyone was pretty on it. Mixing Boddika's Mercy the whole crowd went mad for it, came 6:00pm it was time to hit the hay and get some sleep before being evicted six hours later.

Me at the front with the cap and my friends! :)

A great festival overall that I would definitely recommend. The two days and two nights of music make it the perfect weekender, not too long and not too short. Car park to campsite to arena were all close together, so there was no tedious trekking like at big festivals. Good vibes all round the crowd were friendly and I'm pretty sure everyone had an amazing time.

Out and about - Love saves the day!

Early on Saturday morning I left London at 8:00am to travel to Bristol with a couple of my friends to attend the long awaited Love saves the day. Summer felt like it had finally arrived.

Where: Bristol
Price: £19.95 +
Dress code: Whatever

After a mere hour and a half train journey from London and feeling a little more awake we arrived in Bristol to a rather beautiful day. Hopping onto a bus to drop our stuff at a friends before heading to the festival we took a nice bus ride, showing us the picturesque views of the sights to be seen.

Being a two day festival meant no camping was to be had, which was a relief as it meant no hassle with carrying and putting up a tent, no huge backpacks and no wellies. This meant I could travel with a small little rucksack to carry a change of knickers and some alcohol.

The venue was in the centre of town, and it was a lot smaller than I expected. Before entering I shoved a bottle of vodka down the back of my trousers hidden by my jumper (pay day hadn't arrive). The small stages meant it was really easy getting from one stage to another without taking years. There were I think 6 stages in total, all relatively small but it felt more chilled out and intimate which was great. Regarding my stingy drinking habits, it was about £3.50/£4 for a cider by this point I was drunk enough to agree to pay. But to be honest it wasn't that bad.

The crowd was a mix but you could definitely see a bunch of the hipster crowd in their 5 panels and Stussy t-shirts. But everyone was dead friendly, good vibes everywhere, people dancing having a great time. Some dude randomly picked me up so I could have a look at Bonobo (I'm very short), another offered a friend a bite of his spicy wrap, what a gent. I was also very impressed by the copious amounts of loo's, nobody likes to queue for hours.

The music was insanely good, a tent where the whole crowd were dancing in sync to reggae music, a "dance off" stage where all the girls were skanking to the max, another where we caught "Jack" by Breach being played so we pondered  over and had a dance by ourselves, was definitely the most played tune of the festival. Highlight for me was finally seeing Bondax and hearing "Baby I got that" being played, what a fan girl I was, hearing the sweet music of Bonobo blast from main stage, playing their new album it was ridiculously beautiful, also Maxxi Soundsystem, had a brilliant dance to their tunes. The list goes on, and I will definitely be going back next year and this time for Saturday and Sunday!

Launch - Atelier-To-Go

Last week I was invited by the lovely Rainbow Wave PR team to attend the Atelier-To-Go launch, a new website dedicated to helping you find the right outfit. Each collection is carefully curated, with the most up and coming as well as established designers being sold on their website. It's easy fashion at your fingertips and the website is pretty easy to navigate, you have the option of shopping via trends or curated collections which is different. The website still has a lot of room to grow and expand which I believe it will, definitely the new place for online luxury fashion.

Set at Agua at Sanderson hotel, this was rather funky. Myself and my friend felt like children in this ridiculously cool boutique hotel.

 A sexy model posing.

& Other Stories - Over hyped?

So Hennes and Mauritz opened their store "& Other Stories" last week, after their string of other successful stores like H&M and Cos, I was pretty excited to see what "& Other Stories" would be like. It was amazing, it was the balance between H&M and Cos, the aesthetics of Cos but with lower price points and a slightly younger more adventurous feel. It was the shop where the girl wants to grow up to be a Whistles and Cos woman but is still having a lot of fun with fashion and the main factor, they can afford it!

There was a minimalist urban white feel with hints of wood and natural lighting. The collection was rather large compared to what I thought it would be, there was so much, I didn't know where to start and I could feel myself falling in love with each piece. The huge array of clothes consisted of leather and mesh grunge pieces, structural satin jackets, cocoon like dresses the list goes on. Something for pretty much everyone.

Picture taken from Marie Claire

Towards the back of the ground floor was the make up and beauty area, filled with body lotions and powder, "& Other Stories" was a lifestyle that I wanted to be part of, effortlessly chic and chilled is what I felt. I could see the brand taking form and I could also see myself being sucked into it all, wanting to become a part of that world as lame as it sounds.
As I trapsed upstairs the collection continued with the addition of lingerie and a devine shoe area. I have a shoe addiction to say the least and they definitely excelled in this area. Their shoes were definitely inspired by designers such as Nicholas Kirkwood, Acne and Celine. Every 20 somethings dream!

However the price points were a little odd, I bought myself an organic cotton/jersey dress for a mere £29 yet a simple ring was £19. Bags ranged between £19 to £95 for a pretty simple design, although the higher prices were made of leather but I didn't feel they were justifiable against other pieces in the collection. It won't stop me from shopping here in the future, I will definitely be buying many more pieces on pay day. Although I do question that the launch of this new store/brand will put Cos in jeopardy due to the ridiculously good price points which are very relatable to Topshop. I can see this being Topshops and Zaras real competition on the high street.

Worth the hype? Most definitely.

My Top 10 Buys.

Camisole £35 Clutch £19 Shirt £39 Dress £45 Shoes £79
Dress £29 Skirt £45 Trouser £195 Sunglasses £17 Ring £12

Out and about - Bugged Out Weekender 2013

I was really hyped for this festival, the line-up was insane, pool parties during the day and the fact we stayed in an apartment not in a tent was a huge bonus.

Where: Butlins, Bognor Regis
Price: £150 + (Depending on room type)
Dress code: Acid house

After a heavy fall of snowing during the day I was freaking a little by the fact we might not be able to reach the beautiful seaside town of Bognor Regis (note the sarcasm). Set in good old Butlins, I didn't have high expectations for the living arrangements but was glad I had a bed, toilet and shower. My friends and I opted for the standard apartments, a step up from the silver room. This meant we had a kitchen and living room for an extra £20 each, which was definitely well worth it.

The main stages and such were all located pretty close, all within a 5 minute walk which was really good. There were three stages, Centre stage, Reds and Jaks. Never made it to Jaks as it was slightly further away from the other two and the line up in the other stages were too good to miss. The vibe was so good, nobody was pushing and shoving, there weren't any vile sexual endeavours occurring on the dance floor, and there wasn't any over heating, seeing as 99% of the people were high...on life, it was all round happy vibes.

Drinks weren't too expensive to be honest, bargain compared to London prices which I'm used to. It was £3.50 for a jaeger bomb, I drank way too many of those, but to be honest we were all fucked by the time we entered the stages and it wasn't too hard to smuggle bottles in.

The crowd was a real mix of people, pretty sure I convinced myself I met Vanilla Ice, too many huge hench balding men covered in Celtic tattoos, they were quite funny to be honest. No hipsters to my surprise just a few essexy looking lads here and some weird ageing oldies there. It was refreshing.

During the day there were a variety of things to do, Rave karaoke, Musical bingo and pool parties. We ended up going to the pool parties, Klaxons dj'd and it was sick. The flumes! The flumes! So much fun, everyone splashing around just having fun.

With a line up of Blawan, Scuba, Disclosure, Annie Mac, Andy Weatherall, Eats Everything and a shit load more, I 100% Recommend you guys to go next year.

Out & About - Madame Jojo's

When: Last Friday of each month.
Where: Madame Jojo's, Soho
Nearest tube: Leicester sq/ Piccadilly circus
Price: £10 Adv £15 OTD
Dress code:  Vintage/ Eccentric/ What ever you want.

Last night I was invited to go see my dear friend Miss Dolly Dazzle perform at Madame Jojo's as part of a burlesque competition. So me and a few friends went a long to see this wonderful art being shown as part of "Burlesque Idol".

 Miss Dolly Dazzle

There were a panel of experienced well known burlesque dancers (no idea their names, wasn't planning on blogging about this), giving their comments after each performance.  After the acts performed (must say Miss Dolly Dazzle was the best), they soon followed, proving their credentials as judges. Truly spectacular, it was sexy, fun and in some parts comedic. Really well done considering it could have been awful, but my friends and I were really impressed. If you're new to the burlesque scene and want to experience some frivolous fun, I definitely recommend to go. At the end once the competition was finish Bonnie Tyler "Total eclipse of the heart" started playing and the whole club started belting out loud, everyone swaying their hands in the air, establishing this club as easy going, friendly and lots of fun.

This sexy minx reminded me of a real life Jessice Rabbit.
Really working the feathery art, she previously has performed along side Dita Von Teese.
